Introducing Morningside Chiropractor Dr Patrick Ferries
After being in a motor vehicle accident, I started to suffer lower back pain, headaches, digestive problems and had difficultly being happy. To make the pain go away I would have some sort of pain killer on a daily basis, thinking that when the pain was gone, I was healthy again. No pain, no problem I thought. I took all sorts of stuff to get me through the days, but I got thinking about my future and what sort of a husband or dad I might be if I couldn’t even play with my kids without taking little white pills. No one gave me any good advice about how to get healthy again, I had run out of options and hope. But wait, there’s more…
My brother convinced me to give his doctor a try. This new doctor does an exam, takes some films, and then ‘adjusts’ my spine. The adjustment doesn’t hurt, it actually feels good. I get relief, and I could stand up straight again. I even learned how to stay fit and healthy beyond what I thought possible. Oh, did I mention that this doctor is a chiropractor? It works so well for me, and I’m so impressed with the other ‘miracles’ I see in his office, that I eventually go to chiropractic school myself.
During my 5 years at Logan College of Chiropractic in St. Louis Missouri USA courses included biochemistry, a major emphasis on anatomy and human physiology, X-ray, diagnosis, chiropractic adjusting techniques and patient care in the Logan College Public Clinic.
After graduating in 1996 I worked in California in a personal injury clinic and a general family practice. In 1997 I moved to Port Pirie, South Australia and managed a large family country practice. My wife Leanne and I moved to Brisbane in 2001 and established Family & Sports Chiropractic. We have a daughter, Sofia who received her first spinal adjustment after being born. (If that sounds interesting, be sure to ask Dr. Patrick to explain!)
I love sceptics, I still remember the concerns and apprehensions I had when I went to the chiropractor for the first time. So I make it a point to explain everything in advance, answer questions and attempt to over communicate. Patients appreciate that.
